If you’re looking for amazing food and a welcoming atmosphere, Della J’s is the spot! We went with family and tried a variety of dishes—calamari, salads, jambalaya pasta, stuffed fish, fried chicken strips, ribs, mac and cheese, mashed sweet potatoes, and French fries—and everything was a solid 10/10. The only dish that was just good rather than great was the stuffed salmon, but even that was still enjoyable. The biscuits and cornbread were absolutely delicious, and everything came out hot and fresh. One thing that stood out was how friendly the chefs were—they personally bring out the food, which adds a nice touch. The drinks were solid, and the restaurant itself is clean and inviting. They were extremely busy when we went, and it did seem like they could use a few more staff members. Our waitress was amazing, but she had too many tables to handle alone. Not sure if that was just a one-time thing or if they’re consistently short-staffed, but it was noticeable. Della J’s is a no-frills, casual spot where you can go in workout clothes or whatever you have on—it’s all about the food and good company. Highly recommend for a laid-back, delicious meal with loved ones!

We met here for brunch. It was a great time! The waitress was cordial and allowed us all the time we needed to decide on our orders. The manager is personable, funny and was kind enough to take our group picture. We started with the mozzarella sticks and boom boom mushrooms. So good!! NY Strip with scrambled eggs and home fries, fish and grits, chicken and red velvet waffles, and an omelette. Everything was delicious and well-prepared. Overall, everything was good and I highly recommend you go see for yourself. Get the spiked Arnold Palmer!

Saturday, July 25, 2026, I was looking for a place to take one of my former co-workers and my Pastor recommended Della J’s in Alexandria. My, My My. From the moment we walked through the door, Judy graciously greeted us. We sat down and our hostess, please forgive me but I forgot her name. It started with an S like Shiniqua. Her service was outstanding, the menu(S) had so much to choose from that it took us a moment. We received our food and nothing was left on the plate. Absolutely Impressive food. I even ordered food to go. I had the opportunity to meet the owner and the manager. I must add this as one of my new favorite restaurants in DMV. Everything was great and I have already shared the link with several people. I will be back. Fresh food and again our hostess was very courteous and professional. Della J’s is fabulous! It is my go to when I need a bit of home. The service is fabulous, friendly and non-intrusive. The food is excellent. The atmosphere feels like home.

We’ve been loyal fans of Della J’s Delectables since their Springfield days!! This place is the definition of soul food done right. Every single dish is packed with flavor and consistency and no matter how many times we visit, the food is always top-notch. It’s become our go-to sit-down spot, and we genuinely look forward to every meal there. The ambiance is so inviting and comfortable and we love the art. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind, enjoy amazing comfort food, and feel right at home. And we have to give a special shout-out to the staff!! Sidney, our regular server, is FANTASTIC!! She knows our usual orders by heart, always makes sure we have everything we need before we even think to ask, and has become a friend we look forward to seeing each time. Whitley at the front is equally amazing, making everyone feel welcome the moment they step through the door. In short, Della J’s is the place we always recommend and we always take folks from out of town here! It’s a gem!

Family environment. Our Rotary Club of Alexandria South meets here once a month. We feel very comfortable here. Food is delicious and a special touch of love is included from staff.

I had never tried this restaurant before but stopped in here relatively late for dinner after running a bunch of shopping errands and was warmly greeted by staff! My server Janay was a sweetheart and made me feel right at home. She even gave me food recommendations. I finally chose the fried pork chops and they were out of this world. Quality cooking that caught me by surprise! I definitely recommend if you are in the area to give them a try - such kind people and delicious authentic Southern cuisine! None of that artificial seasoning - you get the real thing here. I will be back soon whenever I’m in the mood for a home cooked meal

04/09/2026- The Sassy Soulful Sisters went to the restaurant for the dinner and Jazz music. Plenty of parking, nice decor, great staff, no wait time, cozy atmosphere.We had a 6:30 pm reservation. The jazz band started promptly at 7 pm. We ordered appetizers first. We ordered entrees and beverages.The food and service was great! The music was wonderful.!

I had an amazing experience at Della J’s for my lunch. The moment I walked in, the staff was warm and welcoming. The food tasted truly homemade comforting, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The fried chicken was crispy and delicious, the collard greens were yummy, and the black-eyed peas with ham were seasoned just right. I also loved the red velvet waffles with my fried chicken such a perfect combo! The tilapia fillet sandwich was fresh and satisfying, too. Portions are big and absolutely worth every penny. I left happy and full! Definitely one of the best Southern comfort spots in Alexandria.
